I would like to hear opinions on where the key is thing or stands in the market and any direct competition. I believe they fall in the American luxury Market Lincoln Cadillac and also Japanese Market Lexus Infiniti Etc. And I believe that Mercedes and BMW stand out on their own and I know nothing about Audi. As far as competition I don't see any direct competition with the Kia Stinger. What do you all think?

What do you mean by competition? Reliability, 0-60, MSRP, or depreciation?

What I mean is competition for KIA and I base everything on GT version. It just seems like there is nothing that lines up directly to the GT in many ways. I would have said Chevy SS was direct competition to the stinger GT in many ways, but unfortunately it' Discontinued. Boy I would have loved to see a Gen 2 of the SS. Hope that clears things up

It competes with other midsize performance/luxury combo sedans.

German car magazine Auto-Bild just released a comparison between Kia Stinger GT, Jaguar XE S and Audi S5. These three are indeed very similar with the exception of the jag not being a hatchback.

Link to the article (German):
http://www.autobild.de/artikel/audi-s5-sportback-jaguar-xe-s-kia-stinger-gt-test-12873819.html

Their conclusion: "Kia Stinger, you have won our hearts! Never before have we bickered about a Kia key, this cool V6 changes everything. The Jaguar has a great engine, but it lacks the finishing touches in quality. The Audi S5 wins. Again, again. Because it's perfect. Totally perfect."

So Audi wins (518 out of 750 points), Stinger second (509), Jag third (483). But the Audi is € 16,645 more expensive. Interesting metric: Price per point:
  • Audi S5: € 138
  • Kia Stinger: € 108
  • Jaguar XE S: € 129

Do they both have similar price, performance /power?

Here are some numbers I took from the article. I have not converted the units but hope it´s sufficient for a comparison. No liability for the translation.

Does not really compare with price. Different class.

Kia is certainly staking out new ground with this combination of content, performance, and price point. If you allow leeway on pricing, the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo (GT) version of the more popular sedan/trunk model is the identical overall length, and has a hatch, and spacious rear seat, and is offered with either 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder (330i or 340i). It's a very comparable physical competitor, and in my case, with an over $9k discount on the BMW, the pricing difference all but evaporated. 71XqubgqFKL.webp

Isn't the 3-Series noticeably smaller on the inside compared to the Stinger?

Nice car! Have you had any issues? didn't realized you could get 9k discount on BMW. I will look into it and may have to add the 340gt back to my list

If you are considering the sedan, yes. The GT has different and larger dimensions due to wheelbase stretch...see post above for link to specs on Edmunds.com.

Just built 340gt loaded 57k. Is it common to get 9k discount on a BMW? If so it may definitely move to #1 on my list. My color combination is offered, and all season tire option.

Can't say how common. The $9,325 discount was split between dealer discount and current factory incentives ($4500), which requires leasing. BMW Financial Services is providing some of the incentive. There was also loyalty money as we already have another BMW. Still worth contacting the dealer to see what's possible, as incentives vary by region across the country. In my case, I chose the 330i version, as I can get in more than enough trouble with their 4 cylinder engines, as I've learned in my 2 Series coupe! :D

Common? Doubtful, but it might be possible. I was pricing a 340i out in July. I had them at 5200 below MSRP, with no special incentives from the manufacturer. Right now BMW is offering 3k "Christmas cash"
