Anyone tried any of the offering from Nitto (Motivo), Nokian (Z Line AS) or Toyo (Proxes 4 Plus) and can share their experience? Want to try something other than the main brands on the Stinger and these popped up. Share you experience please.

I've tried Nokian Hakkas and loved them.

I guess first..why do you not want to try the "main" brands?

I have the Nitto Invos on the mustang but they are summer UHP tires and are excellent. I have had friends use the Motivo and all have high praise for it. They are what I'll probably get on mine.

I've tried Nokian Hakkas and loved them.

I have the Motivos on my other set of OEM-sized 19" rims, and they gripped well through the remains of Ohio's winter, and through spring (Purchased my Stinger 1/9/18, swapped back to the OEM Michelins in April).

A couple things about them: A negative - They seem to have a little less sidewall stiffness than comparable tires, and a positive (IMO) - the compound seems a little softer than their A/S rating would suggest.

The only odd thing I noticed is that they do tend to get slight flat spots when the car sits for more than a few days.

They do have a pretty impressive treadlife mileage warranty though... It's just a matter of whether it's just marketing BS.

Cost and performance. I’ve used all the major brands over the years, I recently decided to give General a try as a replacement for the Optima Hybrid and they work really well, while costing less than those from Continental, Bridgestone, Michelin or Pirelli. I used Dunlop, Michelin and Pirelli winter tires, tried the Nokian and it performed better than any those. I hear Nokian makes some AS tires now but can’t find many reviews on them. I tried the Toyo Proxes 4 Plus on a Volvo S80 and they were pretty good in wet and dry but not as good in snow, granted this was not a dusting but some of the big ones from 2016.

For how good the Nokian were, I’m willing to try their AS tires, Nitto came on my radar when I was researching other AS tires. Looking to hear from others who have had any of these other brands.

Im currently shopping to look for better all season tires than the Potenzas that my Stinger came with since winter is coming. Jumping in to watch this thread :)

I watch all tire threads. :D

I swapped over to the Nitto Motivo A/S on my GT2 AWD about 4,000 miles ago. I've used them on a couple RWD Dodge Chargers through all seasons in Michigan, Kansas, and Arizona. They provide excellent handling in all weather while giving a nice quiet ride and very good stopping distance. Plus, they cost significantly less than other broadly recognized brand names who spend tons on advertising.

Nitto (Parent company is Toyo), in my experience and opinion, provides some of the best bang for your buck across the full spectrum of automotive tires.

I am also shopping for some A/S tires. I have been leaning towards a set of Vredesteins. I had a set of the summer tires on my audi and they were really good. I'm hoping these will be just as good. the reviews seem decent and they are the 2nd highest rated tire in the group.

I've got my eye on these tires for the Stinger, also. I did try these, or their predecessor, several years back, and they gripped well in snow and dry. They were a bit rough riding and noisy for my tastes. Steering was more vague on dry roads than regular all seasons. I attributed some of the rougher ride to going from regular Load Range to XL Load Range on that vehicle. The Stinger already seems to have Load Range XL on the factory Bridgestones.

Oh wow, those ratings are pretty good. Is there a big difference between Ultra-high performance vs Grand Touring?

From a review: "They grip the road extremely well with light snow, 2 or less inches, also." LOL! WTH!? "2 inches" is not LIGHT snow. I am impressed.

60K miles! That's 30K miles for us staggered people. Better by far than Contis (which are better than Michelins)

"Y"! Yay! 186 MPH plus. "W" are good, but Y not go "Y". :P (W is "only" 168 MPH).

Big O has these. I don't see Costco listed as a store that carries them. I'll ask, but I am not confident ...

The website says "quietness", the bar graph, is a hundred percent. This: "Motivo delivers consistent tire uniformity for a smooth and enjoyable driving experience. Its functionally beautiful tread pattern was engineered to minimize road noise."

But as with all noise, observation is subjective more than objective. You'd need to swap tires and go out and drive the same stretch of road; come back, swap again, repeat: all on the same day and driving conditions.

Think he was talking about the Quatrac 5s

I am talking about the Vredestein Quatrac mentioned in Post #9. I did find my receipt, and the Vredesteins I had were the prior generation. The new generation may be improved.

Oh. I don't know why I thought you were talking about Nitto Motivo. I see that now. Obvious. "Read for comprehension, Dougy".

I had the Toyos on my 2011 when it was totaled in 2014 - don't think they were the 4's, but I did not like them at all. I went from the worn out OEM Kumhos that I had been EXTREMELY happy with, to those, and I hated them from the start. I wished I'd just gone back and had different tires installed but then the car was killed so....

My daughter is very happy with the Bridgestone G-Force Comp-2, we're on the third set on her Challenger and they are fabulous wet and dry.
I just switched from my Michelin Premier LTX (which I liked a lot) to the Defender LTX, I'll let you know how that goes but so far I'm not overly impressed.

I usually only get 25k out of AS tires, and my daughter is getting around 10-15 out of hers. Manufacturers mileage warranty means I just got $525 refunded for the "60k" Premiers I just took off (total cost when installed was $775) so pay attention to that!

I just got back from Big O. They have tires coming from their warehouse. Today I will be driving on Nitto Motivo A/S ultra high performance. With c. a hundred bucks of protection added on (against killed tires, like @Gordo's lag bolts; he told me last night), i am out the door for under a thousand. So, after all this pro Nitto Motivo talk, I am stoked. Looking forward to never having to swap my tires all year and having a quiet ride. We'll see.

Btw, I had Big O check my Michelin summer tread; was surprised to learn that, after 10K miles, my front tires are almost like new, and my rear tread is at c. 80% WTH!? I like to drive "spirited" as much as the next guy/gal, but most of the time I drive conservatively. I had no idea that my rear tires had that much tread left. If the Nittos work (are quiet enough; I'm sure their performance is good enough for me), I won't need the Michelins back on in the spring. I will need to sell them. But, all of this is speculation: I may find the A/S noisy by comparison. And if there is one thing I will not put up with it is any increase in road noise; it is quite enough as is, thank you.

Looking to hear your review on the Nitto’s, that’s the one I’m leaning towards as Nokian don’t have a full set for my staggered setup. On the noise front, Summers are typically noisier than AS tires. The quietest of the bunch will typically be Grand Touring tires, which typically have better snow performance than other AS tires but of course that’s brand dependent. I would go Pirelli again if they had a AS + that wasn’t so expensive for my wheels.

I'm looking forward to your thoughts. I love my Motivo's, especially the quiet and softer ride. I don't feel the road imperfections near as much as the pilots.
