I've been curious about this too. But it seems to me that "as many as possible" is the de facto goal of every car manufacturer.
My gut feeling is that Kia is pleased with sales so far. Over 8K in the US and c. half that worldwide isn't bad starting out. Enough Stingers are already out there to influence the car buyers market. The Stinger has already received enough press to influence the car manufacturers fraternity. So (as has already been said), the Stinger has already fulfilled its production goal of showing the world that Kia has arrived to play with the "big boys": Kia can make a terrific car at an affordable price, with superior warranty and price/features/quality/performance ratios.
