hi, all. So recently I’ve been having a burning smell in my cabin when stationary with air on and it went away as I drove. I took it into a shop to get it diagnosed and turns out my valve cover gasket has a minor leak towards the rear by passenger side. When the car is running after a while, the oil leaks onto the primary exhaust downpipes and causes the burning smell. I got the quote to fix and was told it’d be around $1400 CDN due to it being very labour intensive to access. The quote was based off of a guide and it could be less. Has anyone done a valve cover gasket replacement them selves and can chime in? Just wondering if it’s worth it to DIY because it’s a hefty cost for me right now.

Ps. 2019 w/160,000km

That sounds extremely expensive! Have you spoken with a local mechanic - surely it can't be that difficult to replace.

Mine just failed at 72000 km. Coincidentally right after they did the oil feeder hose recall. Same quote to fix.
