I found a used yellow Stinger GT with low miles and in my price range, but it's also about a day trip away. So I'm a little cautious before traveling out here.

It was recalled for its paint and has been "fixed"/repainted.

Were the yellow ones that were repainted essentially damaged goods now or are they still worth getting? I believe there are third party companies that will inspect a car for you for a small fee. If that's the right route to go, were there certain areas that were effected that they should look at? Any other input would be appreciated.

New to this board, so if this topic has already been talked about before I apologize.

My resprayed yellow looks better than it did new. No more dealer-installed swirl marks and lifetime paint warranty. I've babied it since it was repainted. They only made 400, so I (personally) would grab it if it is sound mechanically.

Good to know. I wonder if the warranty would be different though with me being the second owner?

Buying a Car: Is the Factory Warranty Transferable?

Sounds like a certified pre-owned vehicle transfers the whole power train warranty to the original 100K miles; but the bumper to bumper warranty is reduced to 5 years 60K miles.

An uncertified pre-owned Kia gives subsequent owners 5 years and 60K miles.

A resprayed Yellow is probably fine. But a couple on here manifested new chips (in the hood I believe) in the respray a year later. So, it is definitely a crap shoot: but I think the odds are in your favor.
