This is my first post on here, I'm reaching out bc I'm at a loss. The UP HFC downpipes mixed with MBRP cat back sounds like a pissed off straight piped honda civic at 2k rpm. To try and fix this i bought MBRP resonators which did help but at the cost of sounds. It still has a raspy rattle around 2k rpm... though not as loud is there a cat back i can buy that matches up with the Ultimate Performance HFC downpipes where it doesn't sound like shit at certain rpms? So basically who has the UP HFC downpipes with an attached cat back that doesn't sound like shit?

Hey @henryjoshua11 welcome to the Stinger Forum Community!

We don’t usually hear this too often, as MBRP is one of the most popular exhaust systems for the Stinger.

However, the MBRP exhaust (even though many love the way it sounds) is one of the most inexpensively priced exhaust systems in the market for the Stinger. (With the exception of Megan Racing) While it’s difficult to achieve the best sound from a 4 cylinder or a 6 cylinder engine, you tend to have better results when going with some of the more premium exhaust systems, which usually cost a significant amount more than the 2018-2021 MBRP exhaust.

For the 2022-2023 Stinger models, MBRP designed a new EVC exhaust system that allows the valves to be open or closed more depending on what mode you’re in on the vehicle. (This allows for more control of the exhaust tone when cruising)

When it comes to exhaust tone, it’s pretty subjective and everyone has a slightly different opinion on what they think sounds good or sporty. A lot of the younger generation tend to prefer more noise. A lot of younger guys like the burbles and pops and bangs, as it’s something that‘s more trending in today’s current day and age. However, many of the older guys prefer to have a bit more sporty sound, but without the loud noise or raspiness.

For those cases, we usually recommend Borla, Magnalow, or Ark Performance. Regardless, we’re sorry to hear that you’re not happy with the tone of your stinger with your current exhaust modifications. If there’s anything that we can do to help, please reach out through email and we’d be happy to try our best to assist.
