I have a 2018 GT2 with about 56k miles on it. I’m having a recent issue with the car taking about 1/2 to a full second to down shift to a lower gear when I floor the throttle. Something you might do in an emergency to avoid an accident or when passing a car on a two lane road. It is like the car is trying to decide what to do when I punch it. I don’t remember this ever being an issue until about a week ago. When it does down shift, the acceleration is smooth and the car accelerates quickly. It isn’t throwing any codes, starts, idles and runs smoothly. Just acts like it trying to decide what to do for about a second when I punch it. Doesn’t matter what mode I select on the car. Anybody have any ideas? I haven’t changed anything on the car and I use the same gas station I’ve used for years. Thanks.

Dumb question...

When you do floor it, do you press the pedal past the kickdown detent? There should be a pedal feel like you pressed the pedal past a notch when you try to floor it.

If you don't pass that notch, the car goes to full throttle and tried to decide if it should downshift or not--like most other automatics I've driven.

If you pass that notch, the kickdown detent, the car will automatically downshift to the lowest gear it can without redlining it.

My experience is that when you engage the kickdown detent, it shifts quickly down. If you don't it might take a second to decide whether it should or not.
