Having just taken delivery of my GT Limited, I was looking forward to using Android Auto but realized that the front USB port next to the wireless charger didn't charge or detect my phone, and I found a few older threads about a similar issue.

Contrary to what most of them say, this was not a cable issue for me, but actually seems to be an issue with the actual pins inside the USB port in the car. For some reason when a USB cable is fully inserted into the port, these pins do not make sufficient contact with the pins in the cable. Pulling the cable out a tiny bit (1-2mm) has permanently solved this issue for me, my phone charges and is detected without fail with the cable slightly pulled out of the port.

Hopefully this helps some of you who may have given up on Android Auto/Carplay.
