I have good news...I don't want to jinx myself but (knock on wood) I believe the saga with my wheels and tires is over. Last I posted my shop (James was my tech on this) was going to check the alignment because we were sure that was the issue. James called me Monday the 29th and told me the alignment was "all green" meaning everything was ok, nothing bent. I said how could that be because the car was still pulling to the right when I drove it? The tires felt out of balance too. He said he would road load balance the wheels but other than that they didn't know what else to do. Hmmm...There is a Porsche Performance service department in the same building, Rennstatt that races and preps Porsches. I asked James if someone from Rennstatt can take a look at it, so that was arranged. James called me yesterday and said Tyler took the wheel off and discovered the hub centric ring was not allowing the wheel to be torqued down evenly. They removed both front wheels, cleaned up the hubs and the rings which allowed the wheel to seat and torque properly. Test drove it and viola! No more shaking or pulling! This is now only thing that explains the uneven OEM tire wear; whoever did the collision repair didn't seat the OEM wheel properly, the lease owner drove on a slightly cockeyed wheel for thousands of miles and the 19" tire "scrubbed" itself into balance. I have the car back, drove it at 125mph this morning and no shaking or pulling. I am so relieved that the problem was solved. Next spring I need to get new 19" tires anyway so now everything should be apples to apples to apples. Better yet there was no charge from my shop for the balancing and checking the alignment. I am so glad I found them for my BMW and that they service asian cars too! Just got a call and the new splash shield is in (thank you to whoever posted the part number for that) and once that's replaced I'm good to go for the rest of the winter.
