Has anyone actually done this yet?
I'm keen to give it a go if they are interchangeable.
Are both the old and new the same width at the base where it meets the dash (see pics)?

Mine is the tapered one. What is that "square-sided" monitor from?

It’s the original screen that us early buyers have.

It is the 7" versus the 8".

Negative. The bezel less is bigger. At least in the N.A market.

I believe they also have a different footprint shape going into the plastic base. the base will have to be swapped with the monitor IF the plugs between monitors are compatible. This base piece is separate from the vent face. You get a sense of whats involved in this video here, when he removes the vent face at 1:41

watching thread - definitely interested in swapping my GT base monitor for a bezel-less unit.

  8. Or "smaller" as some people like to say...

In AUS, the base 4 & 6cyl get 7" whilst all others get 8".
    (I'd love to have 8" :D)

I think the first Stingers had the square shaped unit but they were both 8 inch. When they were updated for the 2019 model, the bezel less screens were fitted which is what I have. I think the 7 inch screen was only in the base Stingers. Whether they are interchangeable, I can't tell you.

Mine is a 2018 with a build date of Dec 2017 and I have the 8" bezel less version. GT2.

I remember prior to buying my Stinger reading what the new 2019 model Stingers were getting and the bezel less screen was one of these. This may differ in other markets such as North America. As you know we only have the GT in Australia which is the top model in our lineup. GT1 and GT2s are foreign to us down under.

My 2018 GT has the 7” screen and this is an upgrade I’m very interested in.

To clarify, yes, my Stinger is an Australian GT (US GT2), it has an 8 inch square screen with a bezel, our later GTs had the bezel-less unit.

Hello everybody, my name is Bruno, I'm new on this forum and about to purchase a Stinger GT 2018 with the old display. Im pretty sure the new one can be installed but with the adapted base as mentioned earlier by another member. This is one of the point that make me think twice before to close the deal. Is the old display compatible with android phone to have the function of the phone projected on the display?
Now will go to introduce myself properly to the rest of the community ✌

Yes Bruno, both screens are compatible for Apple and Android carplay. They just look different. Welcome to the forum by the way.

There is no "old" or "new" display.
The larger display came on the 2.0 Premium, GT1 and GT2 trims. The smaller display came on the 2.0 Base and the GT Base trims. Both displays function the same.
This is true for the N.A. market at least.
