I think they made the glass roof the size they did because of the integrated visual appearance with the other glass, and the sunroof opening the size it is because of additional strength/stiffness considerations needed for a 5 door car with very large hatchback opening.

With the intermediate glass piece over the windshield, it gives the car the striking appearance of a huge wrap-over glass sheet - love that look ... :thumbup:

You said that well. All I said was "aesthetic" without trying to explain what I meant. I think you're right on both points; looks and safety.
