Stock Air Intake Tunnel

Hello,
Including a picture of the tunnel that goes from my Velossa Tech snorkels to the stock air box.
There's a horizontal piece that goes side to side in the middle and then further in an X divider.
One looks like it's for support and the X for air direction.
Does anyone know the actual purpose of each of these two pieces ?
