I didn't mention the IQ award, i just read the aricle link in the original post. I also didn't say their was a large number of (different) issues, but did say a severe issue like paint is a common problem and wondered if they gave any severity weighting to the issues. With several thousand dollars in paint issues pesonally that kia won't cover, the 700 -ish yellows recalled and the 100 or so polled in this forum, I think I have a right to question the quality award not considering the impact of a given defect.
I think you are missing the point. The APEAL award is based on responses from owners within a 3 month period of owning a vehicle, the IQ award is based on the same period however, the questions are different. Based on the number of responses, they are tallied and manufacturers ranked based on how they scored. We get that issues crop up after the study however, those are outside the study. If no one had the issues or the number of respondents with issues weren’t high enough to affect the scores, then the resulting score is why they ended up with the award.
I hope that explains the award process. The issues occurring now are being worked on. I’ve been a KIA customer with 3 vehicles and see them work to resolve issues that customers have. I’ll admit the dealer network aren’t always great when it comes to relaying issues reported by customers which is why I recommend escalating an issue through the customer service line. I hope your issues get worked on to resolution.
