Let’s play guess the car! 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds, a top speed of 168, a twin turbocharged 365bhp V6 engine driving the rear wheels… Ferrari, Maserati, BMW, Jaguar?
Well no, actually, because this beautiful Grand Tourer is a KIA!
Now if you had said to me there was a Kia that could go from 0 to 60 as fast as some supercars before driving this week’s test car, I would have been thinking of a Picanto going over a cliff! But these are the remarkable statistics claimed for the new Kia Stinger - and after a week at the wheel of the range-topping 3.3 T-GDi V6 GT S model I would be the last to argue as this car is seriously fast.
Not just is it effortlessly powerful - it is the way all that power is put down through the rear wheels, meaning this is not a car to be driven fast by the faint-hearted.
If you do boot it in Sport or Sport Plus mode (obviously where it is safe to do so) expect the rear end to go a bit out of shape… even in a straight line. The last time I had this much fun in a car it was at the wheel of a McLaren supercar.
There is no doubt Kia have done a great job of delivering a true Grand Tourer - something you look forward to driving.
Yet driven normally it is quiet, comfortable and refined with standard kit and build quality to match Munich’s finest. Kia Grand Tourer really is a super car
