I just picked up the larger stinger badge to put over my license plate and replace the OE badge for the 2018 stinger gt2.

The badge is on what looks like a pad which is stuck on to the paper backing. This pad looks like the badge will be raised off the surface of the car once it's stuck on. Is it normal to have this type of padding on the back of a badge and does it leave the badge gapped off the surface by a couple of millimeters?

I don't want to stick it on, get annoyed by the gap, remove it, then figure out another method like emblem glue. Does anyone have experience with adding this new stinger badge and did it stand off the surface a noticeable amount?

Yes it does stand off the car a little bit it. It does however create some depth to it. Ill get a closer pic for you if you want. But you might be able to zoom in and see what im talking about.

I just reread you post. My fault i thought you were talking about the 22 Kia logo. As for the Stinger script badge yea it too will still have the same adhesive set up i believe.

I got the stinger lettering put on the back and realized the adhesive backing isn't enough to make it stand off the car as much as I thought it would and it does line up with what I've seen on other cars.

Unfortunately the stinger lettering I got didn't have a stencil and I did a poor job of removing the previous badges. Now I'm working on fixing the the clear coat and I have a replacement stinger lettering coming this time I hope it has a stencil, if not I'll just be a lot more careful about placement so it doesn't go on crooked.

I was fairly successful with the front logo I put on. I painted the 2022 KIA logo, there's a tiny bit of a dip from the holes in the bumper visible to the right of the I in the KIA emblem. It doesn't look bad though.

Work in progress xD
