TLDR: Think I have a failing injector and need info on replacement procedure and all of the seals, etc. that I need to order
I started having an issue a couple of weeks ago with my stinger feeling like it was shaking ever so slightly at idle. If I put it in drive and slowly let off the brake, as soon as the car starts to barely move it feels like the car is trying to jump forward but at very consistent rate. It feels just like a big cam on a v8 with a stock converter rocking me back and forth. It is not a super noticeable amount of movement though so I brushed it off thinking I just never noticed it before.
Then I started smelling a faint smell of raw fuel when getting out of the car. It seems to be coming from both the exhaust and the engine bay. Then just yesterday I was driving in comfort mode and when slowly pressing the gas, a series of loud pops, the same ones you get from a pops and bangs tunes, started occurring right as it started to build boost and this was repeatable. The weirdest part about all of this is that there are no codes and the car runs absolutely perfect otherwise. WOT and even moderate throttle pull stronger than ever and nothing weird happens. If I punch the gas or just drive in sport mode, no loud popping from the exhaust. If I bring the idle up past 1K RPMs there's no shaking.
I started troubleshooting and checked plugs and coils but all seemed good. Next, I got out my launch scan tool and monitored a variety of parameters. I noticed here that the only things that seemed out of place was that cylinder 2 was running 12 degrees of timing at idle while all of the others were 3-4, and that cylinder 2 was showing misfires at idle as well as under load with light throttle right as boost started to build. AFRs and fuel trims etc. looked normal. The misfires must be just infrequent enough not to throw a code. When bringing the RPM at idle up past 900 or so, all cylinders run equal timing and no misfires. When pressing the gas enough to build boost quickly there are no misfires. At this point I swapped plugs and coils between cylinders 2 and 4 and the issue persisted on cylinder 2. With all of these issues having the possibility of being caused by a failing injector and ruling out the other possible culprits, I believe I need to replace the cylinder #2 injector.
There is almost no information on injector replacement for the engines. I am comfortable doing this replacement on my own, but I come here to ask if anyone has any sort of information on the replacement procedure and what all needs to be replaced after removing a bank of injectors. From what I understand, I will need to replace all of the combustion seals on each injector that is removed at a minimum. If it is significantly easier I would rather just replace all of the injectors on that bank. I am just trying to avoid removing the entire intake manifold and injector bank and then realizing I don't have all of the correct parts/seals and having to let it sit and wait on parts.
Thank you for your time and whatever help you can offer!
