Hi, I'm getting ready to buy a stinger premium but I just heard about the Kia engine failure lawsuit that they just settled. Does anyone know if this applies to the Stinger? It wasn't listed in the lawsuit but I believe it has the same engine that was causing the trouble. Would love to learn more about this. Thanks.

Howdy and welcome. You already know more about it than I do. I only know that on this forum, nobody with a 2.0L has had an engine "failure". Arguably, @rocket23's 2.0L has the most troublesome history; but that predated his ownership (he's a second owner), and all of the earlier difficulties were resolved. The 3.3L seems to have fewer engine issues, but we're talking about the difference between very rare and even more than very rare. The Stinger has maybe four TSB recalls, for all trims, which is pretty good for a model still in its beginnings.

Yea I expect that since the Stinger is such a new car, no one would have come across the issue yet. I can't post links yet but if anyone is curious just Google "hyundai kia engine failure lawsuit" to learn more. What concerned me is that it is related to the Theta 2.0 engine which i am pretty sure is the engine in the Stinger 2.0. Hopefully Kia resolved the issue prior to this car coming out and I guess we will just have to see if someone starts having any issues as the millage goes up on Stingers in the states. Fingers crossed.

for what it's worth soon as it warms up I'm gonna hook up a trickle charger to the battery.....my car is under wraps until they decide to stop spreading salt.
