When I can't close the hatch all the way, where's the best place to tie it down with either twine or bungies?

Also, when the hatch is not closed, the parking brake engages (which can be forced off by pushing it down for a few seconds) and the alert sounds every time the car starts moving from a standstill. Is there a way to mute that?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if there are additional sensors to determine the hatch is closed, or if it's just the latch itself, but you could try taking a small screwdriver and pushing it into the latch slot to make it engage as if it were closed, and see if the car recognizes that. You can also use that as a tiedown, along with the bar/loop that it normally engages.

You will need to pop/release it before you'll be able to actually close it, as the follower piece that normally locks behind the bar/loop on the opposite side will be in the way.

See here for context:

I'll need to experiment with the alarm, but thank you for the video. It's easy, but not obvious but now I know!

Thanks.
