My first car was a very used '57 Dodge with Torque Flight Transmission that used buttons to start, engage and shift the transmission. One of the best transmissions ever made. I think about it when I hit the "P" button on my Stinger.
My only complaint thus far on the shift by wire transmission is you can't "lock" it into manual mode like you can on the shift-by-cable models. I don't like that it reverts to "D" when coming to a stop, it would be nice to have a true fully manual mode.
Agreed, at least in sport mode it will stay in manual until you come to a stop again. I'm trying to train myself when I'm in that mode to tap-tap-tap down into first after it goes into D to put it back into manual before starting moving again. Any time after you start to roll, you can downshift while you're still in first to put it back into manual mode. Wish it would stay in manual, but it's not an awful workaround if you know what to expect.
