Being told by an independent (but reputable) shop that my rear rotors are out of spec and too low to be resurfaced after only 40k miles on the car. Is this possible? How could rear rotors only last 40k miles? I don't do track driving and don't do a crazy amount of hard breaking. Looking for advice on this one. Fronts were replaced under warranty by the dealership due to the vibration issue. Thanks

Just called my dealership and told them I was annoyed about them not saying anything about the rears being nearly shot when I had it in a few months ago, or about a water pump leak that the independent shop found. Dealership wants to make good and will cover the waterpump under warranty (this is excepted with the 100k powertrain), and If I order parts, they will cover labor for rear rotors and pads. Seams fair enough to me.

What exactly was the nominal rotor thickness?
