3.3TT Randomly holding gear after coming off highway?

4 times now I’ve experienced coming off a highway at 65-70mph, slowing down to about 15-20 on the off-ramp, then trying to accelerate again, it will not shift gears and gets up to about 4000 rpm before it shifts in rapid succession through a few gears.

Is this normal? I drive in sport mode and normally it shifts at about 2000-2500 rpm, 4000 feels very abnormally high. I’ve never had a sporty car so I’m not sure if this is normal sport mode behavior or not.

Difficult to say by your description. It should be normal. The RPMs hit 4K very quickly, almost instantaneously, and Sport mode wants high RPMs as it downshifts. I think it's normal.

Can you capture it on video?

Do you have a dash cam with audio that would have the engine RPM sound?
