Hello! I'm BD1962. I live in New England, and I'm new to this forum. I'm not a Stinger owner YET. My family and I have been Kia customers for 9 years, and in fact there are presently 3 Kia vehicles in the family.
As I'm beginning my search to replace my Optima SXL, the Stinger GT AWD has my attention!
I was wondering, is it necessary or required to run premium fuel in all versions of the Stinger, and would it void the warranty if you don't?
I'd appreciate any input from your readers!
Thanks

Hi. LOL, this topic is currently coming up regularly, to the chagrin of those who maintain that "recommended" 91+ octane allows us to save petrol dollars buying 87 octane without any deleterious effects or aftereffects.

The manual simply says that running less than 91 octane may result in reduced power and acceleration. The engine is designed to adjust itself to whatever octane is being fed into it. I don't ascribe to saving money if it means that my Stinger is going to perform less than as designed. That way I also do not risk any aftereffects should something go wrong with the octane adjustment programming. (I'm barely a grade above being a Luddite, btw.)

Wow WW3 is about to start .

But seriously, the manual says for performance use 91 or up, no where says use >91 or ur car is getting screwed but if wanna save few cents then buy cheaper if don't wanna take the chance then put premium, but that is just my opinion.

Plenty of existing discussion on this topic, but as a new member you may not have seen it. Merlins post pretty much covers it.
