I was unable to find the car I wanted after an extensive online search or from local dealers. I settled on a dealer, Superior Kia in Fayetteville, AR because of the low pressure and good deal. After looking over the online Build web page, Stinger literature and the dealer spec sheet, I ordered a red GT1 AWD DriveWise. Five weeks after placing the order, I called and asked for a VIN which I was given. The VIN checked to a totally different Stinger and my order specs had disappeared. We checked the dealer records and e-mails and found no errors. Apparently Kia did not realize this was a "sold" car or they did not have one in their pipeline so they just cancelled it without telling anyone. I wasted 5 weeks waiting and it would have been about 3 weeks longer before I would have learned that I had no car on order.

I do not blame the dealership which has gone above and beyond to contact the local Kia rep and I do not believe it was their fault. We are still seeking a solution and I expect to hear from them tomorrow. In the meantime I cannot obtain (apparently) the car I spec'd out, and my deposit is holding nothing. There are some serious communication problems in the Kia computer system or the local rep. If Kia intends to attract customers from the likes of Lexus, MB, BMW, Genesis and other upscale brands, it has a long way to go. It is a fantastic car. The dealer and regional network needs to follow the lead of the car.

From a different thread:

can confirm. there's no such thing as a special order with KIA (in U.S. at least) there's no system in place to do so. you can make a "sold order request" through a dealer but this only ensures priority once the car shows up in the "pool" of available cars. it's been this way for years, I don't expect a change anytime soon. what a dealer can do is guesstimate the amount of time it will take a certain build to show up, but no they can't special order...
