Manufacturers must make cars now that will run on almost anything without being harmed even if they won't admit it. With modern engines and the computers that run them, this is not difficult.

The lower lines advertise good economy and recommend Regular.

The higher lines advertise better power and recommend Premium.

ALL will run just fine on either gas.

Knowing this, my wife will probably get the V6 and burn Regular.

My cars will get Premium (like a dummy) because I need that extra power 3 times a year, and it's probably not going to be discernable then.

Yes, cars generally run fine on lower octane fuel - like 87 octane. Most people will run 87. You and I will run 93 (unless you're in California) because we'll need that extra power three times per year. :p It's a crazy obsession. Isn't it?

You should see the conversations over on the Genesis forum how they go back and forth over what's better for someone asking - the V6 or V8. You can probably imagine. And now the twin turbo 3.3 is available - making things even more crazy. :p
