Noob help question- What is this engine part and purpose??

Have a weird ticking sound coming from around this engine component. Can anybody tell me what this component is and what its function ?

Taking a wild guess…

High pressure fuel pump.

There are dozens of posts about it.

It’s normal (the ticking).

Definitely high pressure fuel pump. The cold start cacaphony is embarrassing, but normal.

Mine got really loud at like 6000 miles, then quieted back to normal again. Still ticks noticeably, though.
