Noise in gear shifter.

Hi guys, I was fiddling around my car and had my car at neutral. I proceeded to press the engine off button and the car had a weird mechanical whir noise in my gear shifter
any ideas?
2018 kia stinger GT2 63,000 miles

I bet it was engaging your parking brake automatically. the shift by wire automatic failsafe - to cover a multitude of sins on the driver's part - does things like that. that said, Ima only spitting in the wind on this one.
