Why do Oils Changes need to be done every 6000 km...

now and days... every other cars are proposing oil change like every 10,000 km É

Turbo's stress the crap out of oil, and I'd rather play it safe, tbh.

That being said, 6k km is about on par with the USA's 4k mile recommendation for 'harsh' driving conditions. 6k miles/10k km is the recommendation for 'normal' driving conditions. I'm not sure what category you fall into up there in Canada.

I think this is just what dealers are instructed to tell the customers. More frequent oil changes = more money for dealership. The manual does state the harsh driving condition vs normal condition and its recommended mileage for oil changes as BlaydeX15 has already pointed out. I don't really know what constitutes harsh driving....but I'm going to bring my car in for the complimentary oil change at the 8-10K km range. I've had my car for almost 7 months and got about 7300 km on it.

Harsh or severe climates are along oceans (lots of salt), or winter climates (lots of salt laid on the roads). But I do wonder why I have been changing my oil every c. 4K miles where this car hasn't even seen a winter yet.
