Note to self and to share with all. DON'T close the sliding panel on console with a USB stick inserted in the USB slot .

I'd been using the PATRIOT brand (on the left) most of the week and just today switched to the SanDisk Cruzer Glide . I'm <fairly> certain that previosuly closed the panel with the PATRIOT stick still inserted. This morning , swapped it out for the SanDisk Cruzer Glide for some different music. Got home this afternoon , turned off off the ignition and tapped the sliding panel closed. Big mistake, when I tried to open the panel it said nope. With some careful fiddling, I was able to get the panel open enough to gap it with a partially used Post-It pad. Carefully tapped the side of the stick with a 6" steel ruler till the stick popped out of the port and verified the port still functioned.
This SanDisk stick (and all the other of the same brand in my collection) are ~ 3" long whereas the PATRIOT stick is a stubby ~ 2" in length . Lesson learned for me, hope this helps for others.
