2021 Genesis G70 3.3T Sport AWD
This problem has been ongoing for a few months. It first started a couple days after I installed new spark plugs for my JB4. HKS M45iL spark plugs gapped to .23, I took them out a couple times to regap them to make sure my logs aren’t pulling any timing. Everything was going great. one day after reinstalling the spark plugs in my car, it took a while to start may be five or six seconds on the first crank and then it started up. As the weather got progressively colder, it started to get worse and now every time I start my car it takes 3 to 4 cranks each time cranking over anywhere between 5 to 30 seconds, and the problem keeps persisting. I took it to the dealer to have a diagnosis and they diagnosed that it was a starter at first but then upon further diagnosis realize that the high-pressure fuel pump was dropping fuel pressure quickly. I bought the car used this May and it was a 2021 with 28,000 km so they assume that it’s because the rubber Plenum inside of the high-pressure fuel pump dried out and that was causing the issues. The problem is still persisting after getting the high-pressure fuel pump replaced and they said that the starter relay and the starter were both in working condition and the battery was replaced when I purchased the car CPO in May so it can’t be a battery issue. I brought the car completely back to stock multiple times and the problem still persists. I’m not sure if anybody else has had this problem but I remember posting about this a couple months ago on the genesis form and one of the guy said that it was a starter. However, the dealership determine if that’s not the problem. I’m wondering if anyone else had this problem with their stingers and what it could be thanks.
TL;DR Car takes 30 seconds and multiple cranks to start when it’s cold. Not cold weather just when oil temps are not at op temp. Not battery Not starter Not fuel pump.
Car starts fine when warm.
