I did my homework! I started off online here, just to shop an offer on a base GT with AWD and driewise package. Talked to Brad multiple times who was nice and followed up, but he didn't know much about the Stinger. He assured me multiple times their new sales manager would reach out, this person never did. Oh well, your loss! Proud owner of GT2!

The problem I ran into (which is buried way back a couple of months ago on this forum) is that some combinations are either non-existant or so rare as to be essentially unavailable. Kia builds Stingers to their own combination of specs (so far, apparently) for the U.S. market. Some have been able to order custom cars and waited months, but my first order combo (GT1, AWD, DriveWise) was unavailable anywhere in the pipeline and it simply disappeared. I called the dealer after 3 weeks to check on it and they couldn't find the order. I never did get the story on what happened but a check for those specs turned up nothing, so I switched to a GT2 because I knew they were available.

So to make a longer story short, it appears that for the U.S. market, a dealer can only order what is already built and available on a ship or in port. If your spec isn't available, you have to start over. By now, there are combinations of most everything as Kia is getting feedback on what is selling and what isn't.

Agreed! That would explain why more base GT's are starting to show up at the dealerships in my area. Folks around here can stomach a $38k Kia but the $50k GT2's have been collecting dust on the lots in the DC, Maryland, Virginia area (DMV).

I had found a dealer who could get me a GT, AWD, and driewise in the color I wanted. This dealer didn't even bother calling me back after multiple conversations and that's why I rated them poorly.
