Met today for the first time a fellow Stinger owner at my garage, who after a short introduction proceeded to tell me
about the Track Day KIA Canada organized near Toronto a few weeks back.

According to him, KIA provided cars with slicks so the participants could try drifting Stingers.
A good time was had by all. He was told about the event by someone close to KIA.

So when did this event take place, who was it for, who was invited and did anybody here take part?
I never met this fellow before and with Covid, did not want to go into a too heavy discussion.
Unfortunately, there was not enough time and opportunity to ask these question.

If this event was meant for Stinger Owners, I consider it a willfull affront by KIA not to be advised and/or not given the chance to participate.

This is NOT how you build Goodwill.

Seriously, I'm only a few hours drive from Toronto although I'm not Canadian. I would've called in sick from work to go to something like this.

They are typically press days, the public is not invited unless you have good contacts. I used to get a lot of invites to "test drive" events for upcoming models from premium brands, but never on a track. They were parking lot courses or on-road routes.

Putting on a real track day is a significant expense and insurance would never allow the general public to participate.

Agreed, press or dealer days where they train the sales and service staff on the cars and what they can do - a former co-worker worked at a Chrysler / Jeep dealership at one point, they did "off road days" at least once a year, and "test drive" (on a track) days.
