Ordered some oil filters from kia.parts, 5 of them to be exact. Four arrived intact, the fifth appears damaged, but not in shipment.

The one on the right is intact and includes the filter housing plunger. Left is damaged and no plunger. No parts loose in the box either. Dealer received it like that. Will be calling monday to get this resolved.

Not that I'm blaming kia.parts (horne kia), but maybe I should not have saved a few $$ and drove to the local dealer to get these.....

tl;dr if buying a quantity of oil filters, inspect them right away.

do the missing bits make installing the filter impossible, or could a bored service tech install it? and what would be the result? would it leak?

The top portion (as shown) of the filter engages the filter housing cap end of business. I imagine it's not overly load bearing. Still, the filter is missing that plunger part. I paid for a whole intact filter.

Is there even a third party application for the 2.5? I haven't been able to find one.

Reached out to kia.parts on Monday (2-6). The rep (who apparently was just the parts guy) advised to send an email with pictures.

That afternoon they sent out another one. Got delivered today. This one i'm glad to report is intact with all necessary pieces. They even packed it well in a proper box with 6 sides, not that amazon crap (that amazon uses). The original order was also packed in a proper box.

Will order from them again.
