Check this out a couple of thousand miles ago when my car was at the Kia dealer for a recall they said my tires were wearing unevenly and I need an alignment. I'm like with 30K miles aren't the tires shot? They say oh no there is plenty of thread left. So I'm changing my brakes today and see this. WTF! I assume this tire needs to be changed :)

I was looking online and it seems like it would be no issue going to a 235/45 on my 18X8 rims. Is that true?

I see lots of tread, just remount the tires rotated 180º so the other side can wear out :)

You don't say what trim you have or original tire size. I went with 245/40/18 on a gtline (orig 225/45/18). Keep in mind, tire sizes are only roughly translate to diameter. Look up the revs/mile spec on tire rack for your original size then compare to the tires/size you want to get.

In my case, RE97as-02 vs PS AS4 was a difference of 1 rev/mile more on the michelins. All this is a bit irrelevant given the original size still had a ~1-1.5mph error (read faster than actual) at 60 mph compared to gps.

Edit: Why are you changing your brakes at 30K miles?

(pssst: JSolo's first sentence was a joke)

Check the tire manufacturer's spec sheet on your preferred tire. That will tell you the acceptable rim mounting width, as well as the effective rolling diameter. You can decide if the diameter is close enough to stock for you.

I run 245/45r18 on a 18x8 up front on my car and 235/45r18 all around in winter. Very little deviation in speedometer and they fit fine.

Also definitely want to check that alignment, that's a lot of extra inside wear. Dealer obviously didn't take depth measurements across the entire tire lol.
