K5 fuel door issues

Prior to considering and buying the stinger I strongly considered the K5. Mind blown as how the issue below can be an issue. Seems common on that car. Sad. Glad we don't have that problem, and if we did, there's a manual pull inside the hatch.

 
Mine had a problem like this. In my case it turned out to be: the solenoid didn't have enough power to overcome the friction between the latch and the keeper. I tapped on it a little and tried again to open, repeated until I got in. Then every month or so, I take a toothpick and smear a bit of silicon grease on the latch and keeper and no more problems.
