These pieces can be purchased here:

If the set comes with four of the 3M tabs, use one for each plate. If the set comes with eight of the 3M tabs, use two for each plate. There are two versions and some only need the single piece for the backing.

There's also a video here with a similar installation for the Genesis G80.

First of all, I think this product name is the longest of any Kia accessory.

Here’s everything that comes in the box. The 8 little domino looking pieces are spacers, one side is a peel off sticky.

Directions in which give you an idea, but the picture is strange way of explaining it. Google image translate was not helpful because it kept talking about a fish.

These curved plastic plates were very easy to take off using a pry tool. I recommend the MATCC kit from Amazon. A ton of good pry tools for $23

Nice and easy!

Peel off the paper and stick the spacers on just like this. There is an extra little lip in the door handle area which is why the vertical one placed more towards the center.

Put the double sided tape on the spacers.

This is when things get tricky. The aluminum plates don’t take up the entire space, so you want these to be in the upper corner. Make them flush with the top and side, away from the door handle. The actual door handle hides the space that the plate doesn’t cover. It’s also really awkward holding it while trying stick it in perfectly. You don’t want to have to pull it off and try a second time.

Looks great and the silver is a really good match to the door panel.

The ones I had got a while back didn't have the 3m, just had the spacers that were doublesided... they didn't stick well at all so I added my own 3m to the spacers. Glad to see they improved them, but yes, they do match the aluminum panels perfectly.

Could you just remove the "pirate eye patches"and stick the aluminum pieces directly onto them?

The “pirate eye patches” are curved pieces of plastic. The aluminum is thin but to strong to bend to fit the plastic, plus that would probably deform the “stinger” wording.

Whered you get these, can you provide a link?
I purchased mine from Amazon before I realized that they are available from the Stinger Store. I’m guessing they all come from the same place. Mine shipped from Korea and took 10 days to arrive.

Both links are below:

Ships from Florida

Ships from South Korea

Yes, both come from the same manufacturer. Only mine ship from Florida as opposed to South Korea...

Thanks! I realized that I should have probably posted this in the “How to’s and DIY” section :geek:

It was actually a good idea to post this here in the interior forum - where it'll get the most attention from people looking for discussions regarding the interior. Later on when it dies down in here, we can move it to the How To section. :)

Thanks for the write up @StingerNick. I like the look but I can invision these things making some noise down the line. Hope that isn't the case.

Also realized if I ever want to remove the door panels again the aluminum pieces will most likely be ruined in the process. So instead of installing both sets I did just the front and saved the other for if/when I remove the door cards again.

Kudos to the OP for sharing this.

I bought the door handle catch plates a year ago, when they were being shipped without the spacers. So mine are still sitting in the garage, unused.

This thread is encouraging me to make a run at installing my catch plates. Can anyone please tell me how long, wide and thick the spacers are? Also, what kind of material are they - are they some kind of moderately dense foam?

Thanks in advance.

I just threw mine in the bin, and wrote an aggressive email to Sal about these plates and the complete lack of instructions to install these PROPERLY.
NO where on the sites instructions where you buy these does it say that YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE ORIGINAL PLASTIC TRIM.
Such a waste of time and money.

Last time I ever buy from this shop until they go into excessive detail or send out clear and concise instructions with their products.

Not to mention the damage done to the door handle whilst trying to put these in with the plastic trim in place.

There is a picture of OP removing the trim in the original post. He specifically said how he did it.

Ok, what makes you think I saw this thread before the damage was done?

They NEED to include instructions with their stuff when they send it to you. IF I HAD KNOWN THE PLASTIC HAD TO COME OUT, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO SIMPLE, BUT THEY NEGLECTED TO TELL YOU THE MOST IMPORTANT PART.

ITS SHOULDNT TAKE ME TO DO A SEARCH ON A FORUM TO FIND OUT HOW TO INSTALL THESE.
