Jb4 question

To my knowledge, there is nothing on the market that can output the drive-mode selection from the bcm/ecm to an aftermarket device.
Would be amazing if there was, and then have devices like mando modules, pedal tuners, and even JB4s have different settings for different modes.
Oh really?

Not sure where I got the wrong impression, but somehow I’ve been thinking the JB4 (for example) only did it’s thing in SPORT mode.

Maybe it’s just that because the JB4 piggy-backs on the car’s own signaling and because ECO and COMFORT modes are more relaxed, it stays more “tame”?

Nope JB4 is Active all the time.

So, what's it like driving it in COMFORT vs ECO vs SPORT mode? Do they feel different, or does it make drive-mode throttle / engine response identical in all modes?

Terry and others can answer this question even better than I can, but the JB4 is indifferent to your drive mode.
The JB4 sees throttle, map sensor (and o2 if you have fuel wires) and makes adjustments according to its built in parameters, none of these parameters are technically influenced by drive mode.

The drive mode changes shift points, how hard the transmission shifts, pedal sensitivity, and (on equipped trims) steering ratio and suspension dampening. Drive mode does not change fuel or timing maps.
The engine itself has the same performance in ECO or SPORT mode when at 100% throttle. The changes in transmission and pedal sensitivity is the reason for the difference in how much faster the car feels, and the difference on your draggy/time-slips.

So to answer the first part of your question, JB4 makes it perform better (faster) in all modes, its like adding 10-20% to each mode over stock.
