Map guide as of v5 firmware (selected via JB4 Mobile/laptop interface. Map1 is the default map)
Map 0: JB4 disabled
Map 1: 4psi over stock peak tapering to 2.5psi at high RPM. Default performance map suitable for all 91+ octane fuels.
Map 2: 5psi over stock tapering to 4psi at high RPM. Suggested for 93+ octane fuel.
Map 3: 6psi stock tapering to 5psi at high RPM. Suggested for high quality fuel including unleaded race gas, ethanol mixtures up to 30%, or high quality octane booster like Torco or Boostane.
Map 4: Valet map, runs around half as much boost as stock.
Map 5: Up to 7psi over stock. For use with unleaded race fuel and/or E85 mixtures up to 30%.
Map 6: User adjustable map. Enter value of boost over stock by RPM on user adjustment page.
Map 7: Up to 7psi over stock but without top end taper. For unleaded race fuel use and bolt on modifications. May not be suitable for E85 mixtures due to high fuel pressure dropping. If using this map on E85 you should be experienced at reading your own logs and evaluating ignition advance and fuel pressure.
Map 8: Progressive WMI (water/meth) map. Increases boost as a function of methanol flow & methanol boost additive. Holds boost low until WMI is flowing to avoid tip-in knock, and reduces boost as a function of WMI flow in the event of interruption like running out of fluid, leak, or component failure.
Firmware:
v8
1) Enabled over boost and run lean safety systems. Value "last safety" will be stored in the event of a failsafe for later analysis in the read only area of the JB4 user adjustment page.
b) Over boost safety: If boost exceeds value entered under "boost safety" on the user adjustment page (default value of 20psi) for more than a second under heavy throttle JB4 will revert to map0 (stock tuning).
b) Run lean safety: If air/fuel ratio in either bank exceeds 15:1 for more than a second under heavy throttle the JB4 will revert to map0 (stock tuning).
2) Revised CANbus to add cylinder 2-6 raw timing advance. Although early days we expect this data to further help customers when doing custom tuning, exploring the power limits of various fuels and modifications, and to become a backbone of the upcoming JB4 auto tuning logic we're working on. This logging can be disabled by setting FutureUseD bit4 on.
3) Added option for a more linear pedal input to boost profile mapping. The default pedal mapping is FutureUseD bit7 OFF, while setting FutureUseD bit7 ON enables the more linear input mapping.
v7
1) Added double-PID fuel control algorithm which provides a nice improvement in dynamic AFR control over the previous single offset algorithm. In JB4 logs fuel enrichment reflects the bias for bank1 while "calc tq" reflects the bias for bank2.
2) Made a test adjustment to the passive delete function. Some have reported a momentary "pause" during startup cranking. Reversed change in BETA3 as it didn't fix problem. If you have this issue pressing ignition button once before starting car may help.
3) Adjusted JB4 interface such that fuel bias values no longer need to be entered for fuel control to be active. They can all be set to 0, or left at previous settings, because they will be ignored unless you enable "manual" AFR tuning under FutureUseD bit1. NOTE if not using fuel control wires no changes are needed but logging of AFR will not be accurate unless setting FutureUseD bit 0 on.
v6
1) Fixed bug with boost by gear kicking in under low throttle, will only phase in over 70% throttle now.
2) Revised pedal input mapping for smoother and stronger partial throttle performance, and less throttle closure during shifts.
3) Adjustments to map boost profiles.
4) Revised fuel control algorithm.
v5
1) Revised boost by gear logic for improved traction on RWD vehicles. You can now set gears below the factory boost levels if needed. For each gear enter the amount of boost reduction you want. For example, 8.0psi would reduce boost by 8psi in 1st gear. In our development non-LSD GT we've been testing 8psi in 1st and 2psi in 2nd with good success.
2) Added progressive water/meth map map8. Requires WMI integration using a BMS FSB to run the pump & solenoid. Once installed WMI is enabled when map8 is selected and the JB4 progressively controls WMI and boost targets as a function of WMI flow. The only safe way to run WMI.
3) Adjusted map7 to match map5 but hold boost stronger to redline for heavily modified cars.
4) Added logic for IAT remapping which provides direct ignition timing control. Requires you to add a wire within the JB4 harness itself. Will post more on this as we further evaluate it.
T5) Added fuel pressure logging under FP_H.
