The time has come the Review of the two big dogs

JB4 VS LAP3 V2

I want to start by saying that I have had both in my car and have driven them hard, cruised, and everything in between. I am going to keep this as fair as I can and you guys can tell me in the comments what you think.

I did my comparison on things that I like so thats where we will start and finish

The things Ill be comparing are.....

The Install

The customer support

Price Point

Gas Mileage

Future Goals

Starting with JB4 it is as easy as 1,2,3

You literally have the module and plug into 2 sensors in the engine bay, if you have any mechanical skill it should take you no longer then 20 minutes, HOWEVER when you get to more advanced things such as methanol kits, hell even the bluetooth and fuel wires, if you mess up it could cause an issue.

LAP3 is a little more complex just because it has alot more wires but makes sense since the LAp3 unit goes more in depth and gives you more specs of your car and more info (using dumb terms here) I personally do not have a methanol kit but Stan Mcleod does and from what I saw, the wiring isn't difficult,

OVERALL Lap3 looks more clean under the engine bay while jb4 starts to turn into a birds nest

2. The support

This one is pretty even, but also can depend on how quickly you want or need an answer. When I had my jb4 I just emailed Terry and would wait for a response. David Chung I just message and get an answer usually within minutes. There were some things that I needed answered but JB4 support wasn't "allowed" to tell me which was quite frustrating. Lap3 is always there and hasn't told me they couldn't answer anything I have asked.... yet. hopefully it stays that way

3. Price point

JB4=$479 Bluetooth $129 app $30

LAP3=$1200

This is where Ill be a little biased BUT if you want the budget build stinger, by all means go with a jb4, its only going to get you so far, but if you want your car to have something in there thats never going to fail spend the extra money, we are all adults here, a car is an investment, minus well spend the money on it to make sure it doesn't go POW

4 Gas mileage

Ive driven to and from the East to the West Coast of Florida and with lap3 I got 23+ MPG , JB4 I only got 20

Not really much to say there but I figured some people like to know how well their car goes on gas

5 Future Goals

LAP3 is currently working on a bigger turbo kit a ECU upgrade and More stuff to come. JB4 is a piggyback tune that usually goes with other companies that bench flash but... no one has broken the eco yet and has released it... so just consider that.

Final comments. I LOVE MY LAP3 unit, if you want your car to run right and are planning on going big with this car.... thats the way I would go. If you just want a simple "tune" thats gonna get you some horsepower and just wanna do intakes? Then there's that option as well.

DRIVABILITY

With lap3 it feels like a cloud, when you are driving, the get up is great, no hesitation, car has confidence.

JB4 (at least for me) tended to hiccup a-lot causing a unsmooth acceleration

On dyno charts it is apparent when the chart looks like a heart beat monitor... thats not a great thing...

LASTLY ISSUES

I can only speak from my experience.

I had all the bells and whistles in my jb4, and for some reason it was impossible to diagnose what the problem was, the only conclusion was "send me more logs" when the car couldn't do a full log without sputtering.

Nothing to report with lap3 yet
