I got "High Pressure Fuel Pump" replacement from Dealer 10 months ago as part of SC281 Stinger recall, now went for a check engine light P030400 and dealer mentioning same part and pointed it will cost 1500$
1) Since dealer already replaced it 10 months ago as part of recall, Wont it be covered by warranty, it hardly drove 5k miles after last replacement ?
2) In either way it is part of recall right?

Will KIA warranty the replacement fuel pump which failed? I would think the replacement pump is warrantied for a year anyway even if KIA doesn't do the recall twice for free.

I just got to know new things here- It seems the Dealer never replaced it during last recall operation - They just confirmed that they performed testing and decided it not require any replacement so no replacement was done - This is new news to me and on top of that- Dealer was saying this is "One and Done Deal" so since last time they checked and not replaced and now after ~10 months dealer found same issue, but this time recommends immediate replacement of same part HPFP which costs around 1500$. I am really surprised how it can be on and done - if dealer checks and he don't find any, what happens if same exact issue comes back after a month or 2 months - Don't safety recalls like this should warranty replacement for certain time.

Safety and TSB work does not have a life expectancy/limit on them. Plain and simply, a recall/TSB is eternal and as long as a vehicle is not recorded at KIA as having complied with all of them, they all can be done under the original parameters, which of course means KIA foots the bill. Now, if the replacement fuel pump fails, that is simply a failing part and only the part's warranty period is in play.

I could be mistaken about this particular TSB though. As I recall, I went in and had it checked during an oil change. They said that the fuel pump was fine too. And so far, so good. But if the pump fails X-number of months/years down the road, does that mean that KIA must install a brand new one for free? Probably not, since in this case, a certifiable "pump is okeedokee" diagnosis means the part is now on its own for however long it lasts beyond bumper to bumper warranty.
