Help me figure this out

I have this ledge in my fairly narrow garage that is at the perfect height to be troublesome. When I open my car door it swings above the ledge. I get in the car and attempt to close the door, but now my additional weight causes it to be stuck on the ledge.

So I need to add or remove something to the ledge to solve this problem. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Maybe raise the garage floor a bit? If you only need a little extra height for clearance, you could put something under the front wheels. Would need to keep the riser from sliding around though.

I was thinking of maybe stapling or drilling something onto the ledge that would also protect my paint.

It's a good idea but it seems like it might be more trouble than it's worth...

..............put down a few sheets of 4x8 plywood on your floor , 3/4 " might do it , or double it up .
