ive been wanting a project car for quite some time now... I'm debating of buying this car but not 100% sure yet.. anyone have experience with this fine whip?

Had a 1998 sedan with a 5-speed and the USA-spec engine (Euro-spec is larger and more powerful)

Car was pretty stock with the exception of really good pads, rotors, and stickier rubber. I picked mine up for $1800 in cash but spent about $2000 in parts and easily a full week with a trusted family friend helping me fix it up.

It was a wonderful car but nowadays they are very expensive... I would suggest a type of MX5/Miata or a FRS/BRZ/GT86/86 over an E36 due to the cost. Just my opinion though.

Good luck friend!

I concur with above. My friend had an E36 M3 and it was a great car to drive (when it worked) but he spent more time and money trying to repair it that it was not functional vs actually driven around.

I have been considering a project car as well such as a Porsche 986 / 987 but would have similar euro car issues as well.

Looking at an 86/MX5, sure they will be cheaper to build etc but will never be close to stinger power and handling which pushes me elsewhere. Interested to see how your journey goes and suggestions from others!
