GT Stuck in 6th

I use paddles to slow up when approaching freeway traffic. Today I downshifted to 6th and then while going back up to 7th the indicator just flashed and stayed in 6th. So I grabbed the console shifter, pulled it left and forward...still stayed in 6th, tried to pull back for 5th and same thing again. I end up dropping back to D to get out of 6th. It has happened a few times in 12K, wondering if anyone else has seen anything similar.

Engine RPM can determine the gear that the transmission will allow. You can exit manual (paddle) shift either by holding the paddle for longer than a second, or pull the shifter to D.
