Here goes this is difficult to describe this noise started within the last month or so so it’s cold here in Minnesota. When backing out of the garage for the first time, putting your foot on the break and shifting From reverse to drive and releasing the break there’s an electronic sounding crunch, or rubbing noise for like half a second once the car is warm and driven the first time in the day, it will not repeat. Anyone experiencing something similar? Could this be the electronic brake module doing a system check?

Likely some corrosion on the rotors from sitting damp overnight. First time you brake it rubs off and is fine.

To be clear, this electronic sounding crunch occurs as you begin to roll forward, from being stopped, when you lift you foot off the brake after shifting from reverse to drive?

and - this noise is new, and only occurs on the first drive on the day?
Can the noise be recorded?

It would NOT the parking brake. The parking brake in this scenario is disengaged when you begin reversing. The parking brake does not do anything when switching from reverse to drive

I’m not sure it is audible through a Phone recording? But I will certainly try.
