Hey y'all, I'm new to the forum and had a question about my fuel pump and catalytic converter. I have 87,000 miles on the car and my fuel pump failed, the dealership replaced for free because of the recall on it...the day after I picked it up from the dealership I got a p042 code and brought it back. They told me that the honeycomb in the cat was cracked and it's 4500 to replace it since it's not under emmisions warranty anymore. My question is, since the fuel pump was overpressurized and making the car run rich, doesn't all of that un-burned fuel combust in the catalytic converter and damage it? And could I try to make a case for a new cat for free since the recalled part damaged it? Im no mechanic but I tried to research this as much as I could. Thankyou!

Wow sorry to hear bud...

I have a 2.0L. How would you prove that their part/work caused the cat to get damaged? Hopeless battle Ima thinking. Try and find a cat on a crashed Stinger at a junkyard. $4.5K is just nuts.
