I addressed this issue earlier this morning on a different thread because I could not find the button for starting a new thread. Since I now have found it, I am thinking it is much better to do this as a separate thread in hopes more may be able to share ideas with me. My week old Stinger GT2 does not want to keep its liftgate shut. After pushing the various buttons that should close it, it closes and then immediately reopens. The trunk is empty, I tried removing the hatch cover, and there does not seem to be anything obstructing the functioning of the latch. I read in the manual that in the event of a battery failure, the latch can be reprogrammed. I did not find these instructions clear, but I tried to perform the steps as I understood them but to no avail. I have been able to manually close the hatch and it stays afterwards, but the dash symbols shows it is open (orange hatch icon on). Any other ideas before I make an appointment at a nearby dealer? Also, I have a choice between Simi Valley Honda/Kia and Kirby Kia in Ventura. Do any of you have experience with either service departments?

Took car to Kirby Kia in Ventura today. Service rep says the latch is faulty and he expects to have one in on Wednesday to replace bad one. I was at dealer for about and hour and so far am please with the assistance offered. Service rep told me it was a quick fix once the part is in. I opted to bring the car home and keep garaged until the part arrives, rather than having my wife pick me up or get a rental car and leave the car at the shop.
