It's all to do with drag - SUV's, and other "boxy" rear-end vehicles like the Soul, most minivans, etc. suffer from this as there is a pretty significant low pressure buildup behind the car. It would drive me nuts when I would clean my Sorento, and the first trip over about 30 yards of gravel leading to our "back" driveway would immediately coat the back of the car in dust. My daughter's Challenger, however, only gets it on the rear lights, bumper, not on the window..
