I'm fairly certain this hasn't been mentioned, but does anybody remember the Cincinnati Stingers from the World Hockey Association? They played from 1975 to 1979 and then the WHA disbanded and were in a different league for one more season. I was born in 1972 so I don't really remember too much of them and was surprised to see Mark Messier played for the Stingers. Attendance was never great and was probably the main reason Cincinnati lost the team. The Cyclones have been here for at least 20 years and do much better with fan support.
