Dash cam power

Has anyone tried to pull power from the rear view mirror in order to power a dash cam? I want to install one but don’t want to use the OBD port or run more wires. I don’t need it to run when the car is off. Why run more wires if there are ones there, right? Thanks folks.

There are some really good instructions with great pictures on doing exactly what you want if you search for them on these forums. will take less than 10 minutes, once you get started.
