Hello,

Does a CPO Kia have to be sold be a Kia dealership in order to have a valid CPO status? Thanks.

Anybody who wants to can claim it's 'certified' under their own program - including Edna's Aluminum Storm Doors and Used Car Sales Inc. No legal restriction on using the term 'CPO'.

If it wasn't certified by KIA, they're not going to provide any sort of coverage for someone else's program.

Thank you. I should have been more specific that the dealership is claiming that the car has a manufacturer's CPO. But after looking at it a little bit more, I don't think it does.

You can download a brochure from KIA's site on their CPO program. The added 12 month 'platinum' coverage that comes with a CPO car (from the date of a Kia dealer's CPO sale) is transferable - if it did actually have it.
