Cold Weather OCCs

Searching around didn't find me a clear answer so I figured I'd ask. I'm interested in getting a OCC for my GTS but I live in a place where around 4-5 months of the year would be near freezing temps and the occasional blizzard. I'm looking to see how other people in cold climates deal with potential freezing of the OCC. Do you just empty it more often or let it ride?

I have the Sxth element OCC and had zero issues over the winter here in the northeast USA. They state that as long as the catch can isnt full there should be no issues in freezing temperatures.
